Still as popular as ever Jim’s Jaunts have taken members and their families all over the country to see some pretty amazing things.
Any confirmed jaunts are listed below and as they are incredibly popular with limited places then do get in touch with Jim on 01946 832790 – evenings only or in person.

To be held in Dalton
To help the town celebrate VE day on the 8th or 9th of May or both days if possible.
Pre 1950s exhibits preffered
Dalton is 4 miles away from Barrow. They are looking for vintage cars to parade through the town and exhibit in an area of the town to allow members of the community to get a feel of what life was like during the 1940`s and help celebrate the end of WORLD WAR 2.

If you are able help them out, their little community does not get the chance to celebrate often, and this would give us an ideal way to revive the town and plan other events in the future.

VE weekend timetable
Friday May 8th
RAISE A GLASS TO THE HEROES- people are invited to raise a glass to the fallen heroes of World War II. Pubs around the town will be open to facilitate this. Music and other entertainment will be available at Tudor Square and on the forecourt of the Wellington form 2.30 pm
There will also be a display of vintage vehicles on the car park of the Health Centre.
At the WAR MEMORIAL on Station Road
6.55 pm the Town Crier will read the Cry for Peace
7.00 the Last Post will be sounded
7.10 the Bells of St Mary’s Church will be rung
Saturday 9th May
PICNIC AT THE CROSS
From 2pm Visitors and residents are invited to bring their own picnic to Market Cross to enjoy 1940’s themed family activities- children’s games, craft stalls, balloon sculpting etc as well as music from the Town Band and a local singer.
During both afternoons Iain McNicoll a local historical interpreter and his friends will mingle with the crowds dressed in uniforms of the period.
Dalton Castle will be open from 2.30 -5.00pm and will include an exhibition of WW2 related material.
The vintage vehicles will be on display again.
We hope that residents and businesses along Market Street will put out bunting to add to the atmosphere. The Town Council will be sponsoring a 1940’s themed Window Display competition- and we invite everyone to dress in 1940’s style clothing if they wish to.

This weekend has been jointly organized by The Town council, the churches, Dalton Community Action Group and the Friends of Dalton Castle.
